The Researcher agent is your intelligent assistant built into Microsoft 365 Copilot. Think of it as a supercharged research partner that helps you gather, analyze, and summarize information—whether from the web, your work documents, or both. Researcher now supports working with the Claude AI models created by Anthropic.
You must have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to use Claude in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app (desktop and web app only).
Important:Â Anthropic as a subprocessor is being introduced gradually and is not yet available to all organizations. During this phased rollout, some features may be limited for your organization. Full availability is expected by the end of February 2026.
Try Claude

To use Claude in the Researcher agent, sign into the Microsoft 365 Copilot app and select Researcher under Agents in Chat.Â

Then select Try Claude.Â
Claude is available for use during an active session. Once the session ends or the Copilot app is closed, the system automatically reverts to the default Generative AI Model for Microsoft 365.
Note: Your admin must first allow access to Anthropic AI models in the Microsoft 365 admin center before you can use Claude in Researcher. For more information, see Anthropic as a subprocessor for Microsoft Online Services.
